Total war, universal corruption
Russian energy recovery, Ukrainian export collapse. Fire Point, Fedorov, explosions, and the witch.
The Russians are already deploying their own satellite communications, and the Shahed attacks will once again reach a thousand drones a night, along with a hundred missiles. The ports and the sea are effectively already closed, which means a severe blow to the economy. Khmara (the new acting Minister of Defence) is in his own world. It'll take him a long time to figure things out. We're on autopilot. Chaotic decisions are being made, showing that there is no plan. Promising a ceasefire every six months is not a plan. The absence of a plan is not a plan.
A certain ‘influential politician’ gave this dark prognosis to the widely-read publication ‘Ukrainska Pravda’ a few days ago. He was quoted at the end of their article about Zelensky’s surprise July 15 decision to dismiss minister of defense Mikhailo Fedorov and appoint the loyal spook Evgen Khmara in his place. The prognosis quoted clearly aimed to indicate that with the wunderkind Fedorov gone, Ukraine stands no chance in the war.
So, what’s the status of Ukraine’s ‘greatest political crisis since the start of the war’, as the western press put the Fedorov affair? Can Ukraine survive’ without Fedorov.
Well, it turns out that Zelensky’s favorite drone company probably gave Fedorov the boot. He wasn’t giving them enough contracts. As usual, the company is also trumpeting out obviously exaggerated claims about its drone manufacturing capacities. This certainly isn’t stopping Zelensky from giving them the task of creating Ukraine’s own Patriot missiles, in what will certainly be a very costly affair, if not necessarily a successful one (but by what parameters?).
Meanwhile, 80% of Ukraine’s exports are now frozen due to Russian strikes on ports and ships. And now that Ukraine has set its sights on Russian retail infrastructure, Russia is set to do the same for Ukraine. Total war is on the menu.
What’s more, the long-range strikes on Russian energy that Fedorov made such PR use of are no longer effective, with Russia even able to relax fuel restrictions. Ukrainian military analysts highlight that Russia continues to damage Ukraine’s energy grid far more than vice versa, with the president predicting the worst winter yet.
Luckily, we also have some more light-hearted news. New text messages between the astrologist Veronika Feng Shui and Zelensky’s ‘former’ (in fact, immortal) chief of staff Andriy Yermak have hit the twin towers. In them, the omnipotent sage advises the also-powerful Yermak how best to ‘advise our friend’ (the president) in order to instil him with a distaste for Fedorov. Yermak didn’t like Fedorov’s worryingly good PR skills, his ‘popularity’. And so Yermak, still very much a powerplayer despite having no official posts and in court for corruption charges, decided to get rid of Fedorov once and for all earlier this month. Finally, over the past week media groups loyal to Zelensky and Yermak have been publishing claims that security companies linked to Fedorov continue to sell products to Russia.
Unfortunately, we’ll end on a rather bloody note, but one which continues today’s theme of explosives, corruption, and Yermak — the recent ballistic missile strike on a drone expo in a residential area. It was regrettably named ‘CRITICALLY SAFE. A practical demonstrative event’. And it was run by a gentleman with experience in women’s football, and some very interesting connections in Zelensky’s administration.
