Ah yes, Neo-fascist pagans - the bane of folk metal and mythology afficionados. Leaving the flat-earth level myths about Trypillia aside, I'll guess a lot of these Pagans don't know or care that Rus nobles were actively enslaving and selling their Slavic ancestors.

I guess this is a difficult question to answer (so feel free to ignore), but how is the Kyiv Patriarchate responding to this? Paganism is not popular to my knowledge, and obviously the Church has state-backing and quite the hawkish rhetoric. But I also can't think of similar stripes of Ukrainian groups but with an Orthodox veneer (as opposed to Russia and Donbass, where there's quite a few reactionary ecosystems for all religious nutjobs).

Also, I hadn't heard the name 'Femen' in years. What a small world we live in.

That's an interesting question. I would wager a guess that the Kyiv patriarchate hasn't made any comments on it

And yes, ancient Rus had an incredibly destructive political economy based on enslaving and selling its own population to foreigners. It was destroyed less by the Mongols and more by its own internal contradictions

Well that’s why they had to incorporate the concept of Slavic-Viking civilization into their ideals

Hmm, the Tripillians were a real thing, who presumably did form the substratum of what would become East Slavic tribes after the Indo-Europeans took over, not something invented by nationalists. The stuff about them having some superadvanced civilization (as opposed to being presumably bronze-using farmers) is nonsense though.

The Slavic pantheon is presumably mostly of Indo-European origin, with A LOT of Iranian influence, so it doesn't have much to do with the Tripillians. Except I think Mokosh may be non-IE. Finno-Ugaric?

Just a small correction: the third photo doesn’t show Kolovrat but Black Sun, another symbol widely used by neo-Nazis these days.

I suppose it's not surprising that a neo-nazi gang (monolith) would take their name and insignia from the bad guys in the stalker videogames. But I'm still a little surprised.
