I went to college in Vermont, surrounded by boomer liberals and their millennial children (and what a disaster that generation was, they uncritically swallowed everything their parents regurgitated). I know people who twenty years ago called Dick Cheney the worst war criminal of the 21st-century, who now celebrate the Cheney family because resistance to Trump is all that matters.
When I subscribed to the Kyiv Independent, they published an interview with John Bolton. How, I wondered online, can a media outlet which every day publishes horror stories of Russians torturing Ukrainians, also publish a fawning interview with the worst torture advocate in the entire West? The only replies I got were all of the predictable "Now I don't really like John Bolton BUT" sort. Now that he is on our side, his views are no longer despicable.
I think the psychological dysfunction found in liberals comes from a combination of narcissism and entitlement, inner traits that are expressed outwardly as unbearable hypocrisy. The death of Christianity within the liberal establishment played a huge role in this, because to some extent traditional moral values served as a counterbalance against their more ridiculous tendencies. But with Christianity gone, they ended up creating a weird religion that involves saying one thing and doing another, which is psychologically crushing over time.
It is no coincidence that the rate of mental illness in America is far higher among liberals than among conservatives. It's so bad now that a majority of liberal young women in some studies describe themselves as mentally ill. Their ideology is grinding down their own minds.

"JW was bad, but this is a whole different level"
The first killed millions through the wars he launched. The second, while dumb and bad in a range of ways, at the very least didn't launch any new wars. On the one hand I want to say that these liberal politics are founded mainly on aesthetics. On the other hand, I have the sneaking suspicion that they are angry that there aren't enough wars for 'values'
It's just Christian morality with a secular gloss to it, the obsession with charities and activist NGOS on the part of wealthy liberals is rooted Christianity pity. They can only sympathize with oppressed people so long as they maintain a pure victim's status, demanding that Palestinians resist the genocidal parasites "nonviolently", turning the other cheek like good Christians should. As soon as they see people with the wrong color of skin getting "violent" they dropped their progressive causes seeing how they're led by Judases. Even with the "color revolutions" they fetishize how "nonviolent" these Revolutions were, to bring up right sector firing on Ukrainian protesters during the euromaidan coup violates that good Christian narrative. They created a secular cult around Martin Luther King jr turning him into A martyr for liberal America, its values and faith in the system. Christopher Lasch writes about this in the new radicalism, American social liberalism has its roots in northeastern protestant churches and the Great Awakening, American liberals in their critiques of religious thinking never strayed far from Christian morality. Challenging the most superficial metaphysical elements of it will keeping the core of Christianity, its poisonous appeal, intact.
